Public perception about the state of the economy has been in the negative territory since the start of 2019 (pre-Covid) — closely coinciding with the second term of the Narendra Modi-led government. As India celebrates its 77th Independence Day, it is natural to reflect on how far we have come as a country. Last week, India’s central bank released a set of survey results that show how the perception of Indians about their own well-being and the state of the economy changed over time. ­
