Dear Reader,

In our new newsletter, Al-Fanar Media brings you our most prominent stories and activities over the past two weeks.

For us, January was filled with activities, events, and stories. Our activities included providing a specialised media training for executives of companies and institutions, titled “Media Training: New Concepts for Image Making”, and a media literacy training workshop for students from Egyptian and Arab universities, within the framework of the Media Literacy for Arab University Students Project, in cooperation with the Ford Foundation.

This did not stop us engaging with higher education issues and the scientific research community in the Arab world. We presented a panel discussion titled “Arab Brain Drain: A Crisis from Within.”

We also produced stories on a forum on the impact of artificial intelligence on the knowledge industry, held during the Cairo International Book Fair, and on how Arab institutions were observing the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. We also explored the stated reasons behind Texas A&M University’s controversial decision to close its Qatar campus, and Qatar Foundation’s response.

We would like to invite you to participate in our next events in February. We will hold a panel discussion called “Arab Universities and Artificial Intelligence: Current Questions and Future Challenges.” Share with us your opinions about AI with us so we can present them to our distinguished guests.

Until our next newsletter, stay safe.

Best regards,

The Editor
