It's Wednesday, friends! That means it's time for another WIRED Games newsletter. By this point, I'm hoping you guys have started your holiday shopping, whether it's for a shiny new OLED Steam Deck or a new GPU, or maybe you want to take advantage of generally low storage prices. What's on your shopping list? Let us know at Games@WIRED.com. So let's get started! First, let's talk a little bit about VR. Meta's Quest 2 and 3 have both been on deep discount for the holidays, so if you're picking one up, you probably want to know what you can do with it. We have a great rundown of the best games for the Meta Quest that you can play right now. There's about a dozen games in there, and suggestions for even more. Next, some roundups of our favorite gear—you know, just in case you need to pad out your own wish list. First of all, we just updated our list of the best gaming headsets for every system, including all-around picks for every gamer, specific picks for systems like the Nintendo Switch or the PS5, as well as solid wireless options with great battery life. If you're not looking for a headset and would rather have a great pair of headphones, we have a rundown of 18 wired headphones for serious listening. There are budget options and pricey options if you have the cash to spend. I'm a big fan of a separate set of headphones and a microphone while gaming, so if you game like I do, check this one out. Next up, read Simon Hill's review of the new Xreal Air 2 Pro AR Glasses, the latest AR headgear to hit the market, promising to offer you useful and interesting information in front of your eyes while you wander about the world. Simon says they're OK but probably not worth the extra price for the Pro version; the standard version is fine. He gives them a 6/10. He does note that the large virtual screen is beautiful and the glasses are pretty comfortable. However, they can be expensive, upwards of $400 or more with accessories, and folks who struggle with motion sickness may want to steer clear. Finally, a pair of reviews from our Gear Team that may tickle your fancy. First up, Julian Chokkattu just updated our list of the best tablets for work and play, and we do mean the play part—there are picks in the list for kids, for artists, for seniors, and more. There's something for everyone. And last but certainly not least, to get you into the season, our own Louryn Strampe put together a list of the best holiday advent calendars! I love these things, a little treat every day for the holidays. If you see one you like, grab it, and let us know if you like it, OK? Now then, I'll see you back here next week! |
