It's Wednesday, friends, and you know what that means: It's time for the WIRED Games newsletter, whether you want it or not! Things are a little quiet right now, but my colleague Megan Farokhmanesh is just back from GDC, and I'm doing some research on the creator economy and culture when it comes to video games, so expect to hear more from us very soon. In the meantime, here's what we have going on this week. Jaina Grey published our full review of Destiny 2: Lightfall, and she gives it an impressive 8/10. That's what I would give it too—there was a lot of negative feedback when the expansion initially came out, but after spending time with not just the campaign, but the seasonal content that came out with it, I would say it's clear the game is in really good shape. Is it perfect? Nope, and even Bungie knows that, but I still think this is a high point for the series. Now then, I'll see you back in Neomuna. Meanwhile, Swapna Krishna is back with another casual gamer column, this time talking about Disney Dreamlight Valley, a game that came and went in its own way, but Swapna still loves it. For her, it's the perfect chill, bingeable game, designed to be the kind of live service that keeps you coming back over and over again. Don't believe her? She explains why in her feature. Also, I know I mentioned it not too long ago, but Reece Rogers just updated our guide to the best games on PlayStation Plus, so if you haven't checked it out recently it's definitely worth a look. You'll find some killer titles available for free with your subscription now, including Ghostwire: Tokyo, a game that I absolutely love and think is wildly underrated. Also on the list is Deathloop, another game that we think is worth your time. So if you're looking for something new to play before some of the big spring releases (like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which comes out on May 12th, by the way,) now's a great time to go back to some of those great games and give them a playthrough. Now then, that should do it for us this week. Let us know what you're playing! Drop us a line at games@WIRED.com; we're always happy to hear from you. We'll be back next week! |
