Welcome back to the WIRED Games newsletter, gamers! What have you been playing this past week? Maybe you're in on the early access for Remnant II, which I am too, technically, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I've watched some friends stream it though, and it looks really good. So many great games out right now, huh? Without further ado, let's jump right in, shall we? First up, definitely spend a little time with Megan Farokhmanesh's chat with Night School Studio, the Netflix-owned developer of Oxenfree II: Lost Signals. I mentioned how great the game is in last week's newsletter, but she sits down with the devs and talks about how the company is bringing some seriousness to Netflix's gaming ambitions. It's worth checking out, for sure. Next up, Amit Katwala has a great piece about EA's first FIFA game … without FIFA. It's called EA Sports FC, and considering the deals with specific leagues that EA has signed, it looks like it's exactly the game they needed to make to lure in former FIFA players, without the stiff marketing fee that FIFA was asking for. This comes months after EA and FIFA very publicly split after a 30-year agreement. Jaina Grey just updated our list of the best games for the PlayStation 5, so if you're looking for something new to play, or you missed some of the best games for the platform in recent months, check out that list. You'll see some solid mainstays like Stray and Deathloop, but there are some solid additions to the list too like the Resident Evil 4 remake and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, among others. Check it out. Also freshly updated (by Jaina, no less!) is our list of the best VR headsets. You'll see the usual in here, like the Meta Quest 2 and the Sony PSVR 2, but we also just added some guidance on the Apple Vision Pro, and whether or not you should even consider it if you're interested in VR and AR for gaming. Finally, check out Eric Ravenscraft's rundown of great gaming deals published this weekend. Most of them should still be active, and fair warning, there are great gaming deals and PC hardware deals for monitors, keyboards, and more—and there are also sex tech deals in there too, so you know, however you want to play, we have suggestions for you. Enjoy! |
